About Me
Emily Baber is 20 years old and is currently studying visual arts at Northern Virginia Community College. Most of her art includes photography and drawing, though she enjoys challenging herself and trying new things.
My Story
Yaacov Agam once said, "There are two distinct languages. There is the verbal, which separates people. and there is the visual, that is understood by everybody." This is a great representation of how I create new art. My art always begins as something for me. It is a physical manifestation of my heart and usually conveys how I'm feeling at the time. My art is made for me, but also meant to feel like it was made for others as well. The purpose of my art is to make people feel seen and understand how similar people can be without realizing it. Even though my art is very personal, I hope that viewers can relate to it and see themselves in it. Most of my work includes some sort of narrative or backstory, something to make it come alive. I've always liked telling stories, but I'm not good with words, so this is my story book. I hope as you browse through, you see something that draws you in, makes you feel closer to your emotions, and I encourage you to try it yourself.
